The Arts Society Rutland
Welcome to The Arts Society Rutland web site MESSAGE TO ALL MEMBERS Dear Member, IMPORTANT - WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK As you will be aware, it is impossible for us to offer our planned programme of lectures and events as normal, and it looks as though that will be the case for several months to come. We don't know when the venue will be available, and how social distancing rules may be relaxed; even then many of us in "higher risk" age groups may not wish to attend large gatherings. In common with many other Societies like ours, and as assisted by The Arts Society Head Office, we are keen to be able to offer you some alternative access to lectures and events and keep our Society alive and thriving (as far as possible!). This has to mean using the internet to deliver our chosen lecturers direct to your homes. As there are different was to do this, and we all have different levels of familiarity and technical abilities with online procedures, we are asking you, PLEASE, complete the survey by simply clicking "forward", scrolling down to fill in the gaps in the questions below with your answers, and sending it/forwarding it to: pipkirby47@gmail.com We shall then be able to put together the best mix of activities for which there is an interest, and incur costs for online lectures, being more sure your Society's funds are not being spent in vain. On that note, to reflect the shortfall in this year's activities, of course we shall be reviewing the 2020/21 subscription level with a rebate or a lower subscription. More details on this as the timing of a return to normality begins to come clearer. Thank you for your support and PLEASE respond to our little survey, even if you can't or do not wish to join in with any online actIvities. Keep well and keep safe, Gay Woodley Chair Click here for the blank survey form THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP - Please forward your completed questionnaire to pipkirby47@gmail.com ********** I am pleased to say that The Arts Society is making lectures available on line. The website is https://www.connected.theartssociety.org. From the menu choose the option "Talks and Lectures" or click on "Lectures at Home" and the current lecture will be shown as available. In these uncertain times we are not sure when we will be back at the Rockingham Hotel so would urge you keep looking at our web site for information and to log on to these lectures and the myriad of other free content from galleries, museums, theatres and opera houses that is available on the web and via You Tube. In the meantime your Committee would like to send you their very best wishes. Stay safe, Ann Lees Membership Sec, TASR a.lees45@btinternet.com ********** We hope that members, past, present and future will find information on these pages that is of interest and support in their studies of the arts. Rutland Decorative and Fine Art Society (RDFAS) was founded in 1988 and has over 265 members.  Our parent organisation changed their name in 2017 to The Arts Society and so we have changed our name too. Our aims are the promotion of arts education, appreciation and preservation of our artistic heritage through lectures, visits and study days, and also through grants to Young Arts Projects. Gallery Exhibitions throughout Britain.  An excellent resource of major exhibitions coming up. Very useful if you are travelling around the country. Click here for the site
